We would love to hear from you!As the next Operate Technician, you will be a valued member of the station at Heysham 1 to ensure the daily operations of the station run smoothly and offer the best performance possible. You will beresponsiblefor the safe and reliable operations of a nuclear power plant in accordance with all licenses,regulating bodies, company business strategies and industry best practices. Because success is personal.What youll be doingWorking as part of a Shift Team and under the direction of an experienced Team Leader and Shift manager; you will be responsible for the ensuring that plant and equipment is monitored and maintained in accordance with strict procedures and directives. We take safety very seriously in the nuclear industry and you will need to adopt a safety-first approach to everything that you do, taking ownership of issues and actively seeking help when needed.Being appointed into this position, you will be required to complete the following roles to ensure the smooth running and operations on site. These include:Monitoring plant conditions, identifying & resolving sub-standard conditions through work requests and performing minor tool pouch maintenanceRespondingto requests from the control room to investigateplant alarms and perform required operationsControl and closely monitor plant and equipment tosupportthe process by following proceduresApply conservative decision-making techniques and work effectively within a team environmentShow a solid understanding of plant operation, design and theory (comprehensive training will be provided)Investigate and rectify plant faults within your own area of demonstrated competenceConduct plant operations, lifting activities andhealth physics monitoring as requiredAs a member of the onsite Emergency Response Team, you will be trained in breathing apparatus, firefighting, casualty rescue, first aid (FREC 3), confined space entry and working at height.Who you areAs the next Operate Technician, you will hold the following skills and experiences to be suitable for the role:Ideally have experience of mechanical,electrical, engineering, operationalor process work with supporting qualifications.Good level of computer literacy i.e. able to use Word, Excel and bespoke systems.Strong understandingof general literacy i.e. able to read and follow written process instructions and complete paperwork accuratelyDemonstrate excellent communication skillsHave a willingness to learn and broaden your knowledge base, demonstrating a flexible approach to work and a willingness to undertake a continuing training programme.Able to work as part of a small shift team and communicate clearly with other station functions.As a member of the onsite Emergency Response Team, you will be trained in breathing apparatus, firefighting, casualty rescue, first aid (FREC 3), confined space entry and working at height.As a minimum, entrants will be educated toGCSE/National Qualifications standards (or equivalent).Applications for this role close on Tuesday 19thMay 2026. Recruitment will take place via a 1-day assessment centre on either the 17th or 18th June 2026.
