This is a newly created position offering the successful candidate the opportunity to take ownership of procurement and supply chain activity across a diverse and expanding business.The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping procurement strategy, driving commercial performance, enhancing supplier relationships, and supporting the continued growth of the business.The RoleReporting to senior leadership, the Group Buyer will lead procurement and supply chain activities across subcontractor, labour, materials and operational purchasing requirements.The role combines strategic planning with hands-on delivery, ensuring robust procurement processes, effective supplier management, commercial governance and cost control across the organisation.Key responsibilities will include:Developing and implementing procurement strategies across multiple spend categoriesReviewing and optimising existing supplier relationships and supply chain performanceNegotiating commercial agreements and securing best-value purchasing arrangementsManaging subcontractor and supplier frameworks, contracts and commercial termsBuilding and maintaining approved supplier and product registersDriving supplier performance management and continuous improvement initiativesIdentifying cost-saving opportunities and delivering commercial efficienciesMonitoring procurement spend and producing management reports and analysisSupporting operational, commercial and project delivery teams with procurement expertiseContributing to tender submissions and ensuring supply chain commitments are commercially robustEnsuring compliance with relevant contractual, legislative and industry requirementsThe PersonApplicants should be able to demonstrate:Proven experience within procurement, buying, supply chain management or commercial managementExperience gained within construction, building services, M&E, engineering, facilities management or a related sectorStrong supplier negotiation and stakeholder management skillsExperience managing subcontractors and specialist supply chainsCommercially focused with a track record of delivering cost savings and process improvementsAbility to analyse spend data and make informed procurement decisionsStrong organisational skills with the ability to work independently and drive changeExcellent communication and relationship-building abilitiesDesirableCIPS qualification or working towards accreditationExperience within a multi-site operational environmentKnowledge of public sector procurement environmentsExperience implementing supplier performance frameworks and procurement controlsFamiliarity with procurement and supplier management software platformsWhat's on OfferCompetitive salary and benefits packageOpportunity to shape and lead procurement strategyHigh-profile role with significant autonomy and visibilityCareer progression within a growing organisationCollaborative and supportive leadership teamLong-term stability and development opportunitiesFor further information on this opportunity, or to discuss your next career move in confidence, please contact VANRATH today.
