We are seeking a committed Consultant Community Paediatrician to help shape and strengthen our thriving service.
You will provide specialist assessment and management for children with neurodevelopmental conditions (including ADHD and autism), long‑term disabilities, complex health needs, and safeguarding concerns. You'll work closely with our experienced multidisciplinary teams – therapists, nurses, psychologists, and education partners – who are passionate about collaboration and child‑centred care.

Main duties of the job
* Assessment and management of children with neurodevelopmental disorders including autism, ADHD and learning disability (either individually or as part of a multidisciplinary team).
* Provide healthcare to children up to 19 years of age in a local SEND school, including medical advice related to learning needs, multidisciplinary assessment and management of children with complex physical disability, support transition plans, safeguarding support, advanced care plans and end‑of‑life support with other agencies.
* Facilitate neurodevelopmental clinics for pre‑school and school‑aged children; undertake clinical care of children with neurodisability; support the child protection rota for non‑urgent child protection medicals.
* Cover children in care medicals and offer training for this role.
* Participate in regional safeguarding rota, responsible for medical assessment for children with non‑acute safeguarding concerns.
* Support referral meetings – consultant led; support teaching and training of medical students, Community and Neurodisability trainees, educational and clinical supervision.
* Contribute to service development, service evaluation and improvement.
* Provide expert advice to other agencies where relevant; maintain links with acute sector colleagues, CAMH, Education and Social care.
* Participate in emergency preparedness processes for the team.
* Maintain own professional development via annual appraisal.
Qualifications & training
* Full GMC registration with licence to practise.
* Registered on the specialist register (Paediatrics) or within 6 months of CCT.
* Clinical experience in community paediatrics and expertise in neurodevelopmental assessment and safeguarding.
* Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
* Expertise in complex care management and mental health.
* Commitment to high quality, equitable care for children and families.
Person Specification
Qualifications
* Registered with GMC (Full).
* MBBS or equivalent.
* MRCPCH or equivalent.
* Valid intercollegiate safeguarding training at Level 3.
* CCT in Paediatrics with relevant experience in Community Paediatrics; within 6 months of obtaining CCT.
* Higher Medical Degree or distance learning course.
Management
* Evidence of service improvement.
* Management course completed or experience in management.
Skills & Knowledge
* Advocacy for community‑based children’s services.
* Strong communication skills and written communication.
* Ability to prioritise and work well in changing environments.
Teaching
* Evidence of teaching experience and peer support.
* Attendance at Teaching the Teachers to Teach course.
* Publications, papers and presentations.

Contract & remuneration
* Salary: £109,725 to £145,478 per annum, pro‑rata.
