Job Title: Oracle DBA
Location: Remote, UK
Duration: 6 months+
Job Description
Responsible for the design, build, and day-to-day support of Oracle databases. These databases are each 100TB in size (and growing), hold over 13 billion rows of data each, and process circa 1 billion SQL statements per day. You will work closely with application and infrastructure teams to ensure these critical services function to the required standards. Maintain and improve SLAs and ensure compliance with client policies.
Participate in efforts to improve efficiency, innovation, and quality delivery. Perform proactive analysis, identify automation opportunities, report gaps, and standardize tasks and processes.
Support is required 24/7, including on-call duties, often at short notice. Work may include weekends, with compensatory time off provided as per HR guidelines.
Responsibilities
All aspects of Oracle DBA support, including design, build, enhancements, and 24/7 support.
RAC, Oracle 19c, database restoration, troubleshooting.
Perform database software installation, upgrades, and patching.
Database migrations, capacity planning, and disaster recovery planning.
Troubleshooting and incident resolution.
Managing tablespaces, cloning environments, backups/restores, and data archival.
Supporting development teams with queries and issues.
Database space management, release implementation, server monitoring, and system health checks.
Escalating issues promptly and participating in crisis calls.
Database performance tuning and optimization.
Ensuring customer satisfaction through effective problem resolution.
Experience with Oracle on RedHat Linux; experience with Delphix is a plus.
