JOB TITLE: Teacher - Post-Primary
REPORTS TO: Principal
Professional Duties of a Teacher
Regulations
Exercise of general and particular duties as outlined in the Teachers’ (Terms and Conditions of Employment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1987, Schedule 3, Regulation 5.
Main Responsibilities
1. Planning
* Planning and preparing courses and lessons.
* Teaching pupils according to their educational needs, including setting and marking work.
* Assessing, recording, and reporting on pupils' development, progress, and attainment.

* Promoting pupils' progress and well-being.
* Providing advice and guidance on educational and social matters, including future careers.
* Making records and reports on pupils' personal and social needs.
* Communicating with parents and external bodies.
* Participating in relevant meetings.
2. Assessment/Reporting
Contributing to assessments, reports, and references for pupils.
3. Staff Development
* Participating in staff development and performance reviews.
* Reviewing and developing teaching methods and programs.
* Advising on course development and assessment methods.
4. Discipline/Health & Safety
* Maintaining good order and discipline.
* Safeguarding pupils' health and safety.
5. Public Examinations
Preparing pupils for examinations, assessing, and supervising during exams.
6. Management & Administration
* Contributing to staff appointment and development.
* Managing other teachers and participating in curriculum and pastoral activities.
* Handling administrative tasks, including attendance and resource management.
7. Work Schedule
Availability for 195 days/year, with specific hours and duties as specified, including supervision and cover responsibilities.
8. Additional Duties
Providing cover for absent teachers as per school policies, with flexibility based on school size and needs.

Essential Criteria
* Qualifications: Teaching qualification recognized in Northern Ireland, Degree Level 6 in Music.
* Experience: At least 6 months teaching Music at Key Stage 3 and 4, with digital media/technology experience.
* Registration: Must be registered with GTCNI before appointment.
Additional Criteria (Interview)
* Knowledge of NI Curriculum, Safeguarding, SEND, and assessment methods.
* Skills: Effective classroom management, inclusive teaching, teamwork, and communication.
* Values: Reflecting school ethos and values.
Desirable Criteria
* Experience: 1-2 years teaching Music at Key Stage 3 and 4, GCSE Music experience, curriculum coordination.
