About the role:
You will drive a lorry from our fleet of Volvo vehicles, all less than 4 years old, equipped with high-spec features like fridges, leather seats, and more to ensure your comfort. Most sites operate Monday to Friday, with 45-hour workweeks and 9-hour shifts starting around 5/6 pm. Our organized shift schedules often allow you to know your route in advance, reducing daily stress. This role offers job security within a growing, global business, with the possibility of additional hours at enhanced pay rates for bank holidays. You'll join a friendly team that supports each other, sharing traffic updates via WhatsApp.
Key Role Responsibilities
* We trust our drivers to plan their routes without micromanagement.
* This job involves trunking to regional hubs on the night shift, ideal for those who enjoy independence and being out on the open road for long stretches, yet returning home after each shift.
* Ensure Cages, Pallets, Freight, Stillages, and Yorks reach customers on time.
* Loading/unloading may be done by site staff or yourself; scanning consignments and driving pallet trucks might be part of your day.
* Inspect your vehicle and trailer daily, completing defect reports if needed.
* Work to ensure everything is ‘right first time’ for internal and external customers, communicating effectively and passing queries to your site manager promptly.
The ideal candidate will have:
* Class 1 Driving licence
* Driver CPC qualification card
* Completed required DCPC training hours or be working towards them
* Excellent knowledge of Road Transport Laws and a commitment to road safety
* A ‘can do’ attitude
