Job Title: Science Technician
Location: Barking and Dagenham
Hours: Full-time, Term Time Only
Salary: £15–£17 per hour, depending on experience
Start Date: June 2026
Are you passionate about science and eager to support students in achieving their full potential? Complete Classroom Services are currently seeking a proactive and organised Science Technician to join a welcoming and forward-thinking secondary school in the Barking and Dagenham area.
This is a fantastic opportunity to become an integral part of a supportive Science Department, helping to deliver engaging and practical science lessons across Key Stages 3, 4 and 5. The successful candidate will play a vital role in maintaining a safe, well-equipped, and inspiring learning environment for both staff and students.
Key Responsibilities
* Prepare and set up equipment, materials, and chemicals for practical science lessons
* Support teaching staff during experiments and classroom demonstrations
* Ensure the safe storage, maintenance, and disposal of laboratory equipment and chemicals
* Maintain laboratory cleanliness and comply with all health and safety regulations
* Monitor stock levels, maintain inventories, and place orders when necessary
* Assist with science displays, open evenings, and departmental events
The Ideal Candidate Will:
* Have previous experience working in a school or laboratory setting (Essential)
* DBS on the update service or willing to pay for a new one
* Possess a good understanding of COSHH regulations and safe laboratory practices
* Be organised, reliable, and able to work efficiently under pressure
* Have strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and within a team
* Hold a science-related qualification (A-Level or above desirable)
