Job Title: Principal Electrical Design Engineer Location: Bristol Salary: £60,000 to £70,000 Employment Type: Permanent Working Arrangements: Hybrid Working We're recruiting a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to lead electrical system design for advanced machinery and automation projects. This is a senior role with responsibility for design leadership, architecture, safety compliance, and mentoring a small team. Key Responsibilities - Lead the electrical design of complex machinery and automated systems. - Own system architecture, design decisions, and technical direction. - Run design reviews and ensure high engineering standards. - Ensure designs meet required safety standards, such as ISO 12100, ISO 13849, EN 60204, BS EN 61010) - Provide technical mentoring and support to junior and mid‐level engineers. - Work closely with mechanical, software, and systems teams. - mprove design processes, documentation, and best practice. Skills & Experience - Strong background in electrical design for machinery or automation. - Proven experience designing to ISO 12100, ISO 13849, EN 60204, BS EN 61010. - Ability to lead architecture, design reviews, and technical decision‐making. - Experience mentoring or guiding engineers. - Proficient with electrical CAD tools (e.g., AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN, or similar). - Strong understanding of functional safety and machinery safety requirements. - Excellent communication and problem‐solving skills.
