About the Role
The Department of English at the University of Sussex invites applications for an Assistant Professor in English and Creative Writing for a fixed‑term position covering the period of Professor Matthew Dimmock’s Leverhulme Research Fellowship.
* The post will make a significant contribution to the Department’s Creative Writing provision, alongside teaching in English Literature.
Responsibilities
* Deliver the undergraduate Creative Writing curriculum.
* Contribute to teaching in historical literature modules.
* Publish fiction and demonstrate the ability to teach Creative Writing at a high level.
Qualifications
* UK teaching experience at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
* Strong profile in fiction writing, ideally with published work.
* Evidence of ongoing engagement with the field, including practice‑based research where appropriate.
Eligibility & Sponsorship
* This role is eligible for Skilled Worker Sponsorship for a full‑time appointment at Grade 7.5; candidates must be eligible to use tradeable points option C or E.
