Planning Engineer
Location: Glasgow / Perth / Aberdeen (50% office / 50% remote)
Contract: 6 months
Rate: £500–£600 per day (via Umbrella)
Working Pattern: Full-time, Mon - Fri
The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting multiple Planning Engineers to support a major infrastructure programme within a highly regulated environment. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering large-scale projects, supporting planning, scheduling and performance tracking across the full project lifecycle.
You will be responsible for developing and managing detailed project programmes, ensuring senior stakeholders have clear visibility of progress, risks and performance, while proactively identifying opportunities to improve delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop and maintain detailed, construction‑focused project schedules using Primavera P6, supporting projects from early development through to delivery and operation.
* Analyse critical paths, risks and delays, supporting mitigation strategies to maintain programme integrity and performance.
* Review and assure third‑party and contractor schedules, ensuring compliance, quality and alignment with contractual requirements.
* Produce clear reporting, data analysis and trend insights to inform project decisions, performance tracking and stakeholder updates.
* Work closely with engineering, procurement and construction teams to develop realistic, logic‑driven programmes aligned to site execution.
* Support earned value management, schedule risk analysis and baseline change management processes across projects.
Skills & Experience
* Proven experience as a Planning Engineer on large-scale construction or infrastructure projects.
* Strong expertise in Primavera P6, including development and management of complex, logic-linked programmes.
* Experience working under NEC3/NEC4 or FIDIC contracts, including delay analysis and change management.
* Solid understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and project delivery across multidisciplinary teams.
* Strong analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise reports for stakeholders.
* Confident communicator with the ability to engage, influence and challenge stakeholders across all levels.
