What you’ll do
* Join the Tech Platforms team to support the backbone of Aviva’s digital infrastructure.
* Design, implement, and maintain database systems that are robust, scalable, and secure.
* Monitor database performance, apply changes, and manage patches and version updates as required.
* Perform database backups and recovery procedures, including disaster recovery tests; troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues in a timely manner.
* Create and maintain documentation related to database configurations, processes, and procedures.
* Work closely with developers and IT teams to optimize database solutions and support business-critical applications.
* Provide out-of-hours support for production deployments and general system maintenance.
Skills and experience we’re looking for
* Proven experience as a Database Administrator or similar role.
* In-depth knowledge of DBMS, especially PostgreSQL and SQL Server; DB2 would be an advantage.
* Strong understanding of database design, implementation, and maintenance.
* Experience with performance tuning and optimization, plus familiarity with backup and recovery procedures.
* Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with strong communication and collaboration abilities.
