Job Title: Facilities Manager - Water Hygiene

Job Type: Permanent, Full-time (40 hours per week)
Salary: £45,000 - £55,000 per annum (depending on experience)
About the Role
This is a standout opportunity for an experienced professional to take ownership of water hygiene compliance at a large, complex facility- where your knowledge and leadership will directly impact safety, health, and operational standards.
You’ll be the go-to expert, acting as the Responsible Person for Water Hygiene, ensuring full legislative and regulatory compliance while managing systems, teams, contractors, and safety protocols.
Key Responsibilities
* Serve as the designated Responsible Person for Water Hygiene on-site.
* Lead a team of water hygiene technicians and manage external contractors.
* Oversee and maintain compliance documentation, including: Water logbooks, Written schemes, Risk assessments, Sampling trackers, Standard operating procedures.
* Analyse sampling data and water hygiene trends, investigate anomalies, and report findings.
* Ensure alignment with legislation and guidance such as: HSG274, HTM 04-01, COSHH, Water Supply Regulations.
* Plan and manage PPM schedules and ensure timely completion of remedial actions.
* Lead major hygiene tasks, including tank cleans, point-of-use (POU) filter replacements, and installation projects.
* Participate in and contribute to internal and external audits.
* Collaborate with health and safety teams or infection prevention units as needed.
* Conduct contractor inductions, review RAMS (risk assessments and method statements), and support the tendering process.
* Organise and deliver toolbox talks and ensure training compliance.
* Be part of the on-call rota for urgent or out-of-hours issues.
What You’ll Need
* Minimum 5 years’ experience in water hygiene, facilities, or estates management (ideally within healthcare or a large estate).
* Recognised qualification or certification as a Responsible Person for Water Hygiene.
* Proven experience managing PPMs, CAFM systems, and water-related compliance tasks.
* In-depth knowledge of applicable legislation and guidance (HTM 04-01, HSG274, COSHH, Water Supply Regs).
* NEBOSH or IOSH certification (preferred).
* Excellent organisational, communication, and investigative skills.
* Full UK driving licence.
