Primary schools in Dursley are looking for individuals to work as a Learning Support Assistants supporting children in small groups or on a 1:1 basis. The individual need to be patient, helpful and care about making a positive difference.
In the role as a Learning Support Assistant you will liaise with the school’s SENCO and class teachers, reporting the children’s progress and any cause for concern. You may also have to help any other students in the class who are having trouble with work.
Responsibilities include
* Implement strategies to support students with diverse special needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs to help them reach their maximum potential.
* Cooperating with teachers and fellow support staff to foster an inclusive atmosphere conducive to learning.
* Utilising various methods to encourage positive behaviour and active participation in learning activities.
Requirements for the role:
* Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly those with autism or social and emotional needs.
* Knowledge of and experience with behaviour management strategies.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate effectively with parents and other professionals.
* A patient and nurturing approach to working with children.
* Ability to adapt and be flexible in a fast-paced and changing environment.

* Have the right to work in the UK.
* Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last 2 years.
* Have a DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for one.
