Five Acre Wood is a vibrant, outward-looking and expanding special school based across four sites in and around Maidstone. With over 800 pupils aged 4–19, we are one of the largest special schools in the country, supporting a diverse range of profound, severe and complex needs. All pupils have an Education, Health and Care Plan and learn through one of our six approaches: Early Years, Practical, Sensory, Formal, Structured and Functional.

We are seeking a highly organised, proactive and professional Pupil Placement Officer to join our team. This is a key role supporting the coordination of pupil placements, EHCP processes and SEND administration across the school, ensuring that systems are efficient, compliant and centred around the needs of our pupils and families.

You will work closely with Local Authorities, families and a wide range of professionals to coordinate Annual Reviews, support admissions and transitions, and ensure that statutory processes are completed to a high standard and within required timelines. The role requires excellent communication, attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Whether you bring experience from education, SEND, local authority services or administration, or are looking to develop your career within a specialist setting, we would love to hear from you. We have a strong track record of developing colleagues and supporting progression across a range of professional roles.

We are proud to be an ‘Outstanding’ school and an IQM Flagship School, known for our warm culture, innovative practice and commitment to ‘Only the best will do’. Our strong partnerships with families, therapists and external agencies are central to our work, and this role plays a vital part in maintaining those relationships through effective coordination and communication.

Our vision is to empower every individual in a safe, creative and inclusive community to thrive, achieve and prepare for life’s journey. Through your work, you will help ensure that pupils receive the right support, provision and opportunities at every stage of their education.

Our values—Belonging, Integrity and Innovation—shape how we work every day. Through the Five Acre Wood Way, we commit to being 'Together Stronger,' putting 'Pupils First' and recognising that 'Every Moment Matters'.

You will benefit from a comprehensive induction, a supportive leadership team and access to ongoing professional development. Teamwork, wellbeing and high standards are at the heart of our culture.

In addition to salary, SEN allowance and pension, staff benefits include:

1. Confidential counselling service and Employee Assistance Programme
2. School Counsellor (for staff and pupils)
3. Wellbeing app
4. Annual flu vaccinations
5. Strong social, supportive staff community
6. Development opportunities

We encourage you to explore our website to learn more about our unique setting and the innovative ways we support pupils and families.

Five Acre Wood is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. All appointments are subject to enhanced DBS checks, online searches and additional employment references in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education (2025).

We look forward to hearing from you!
