Job Title: Social Worker – 14 Plus TeamLocation: Barry, Vale of GlamorganSalary: £37,280 – £46,142 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience)Contract Type: PermanentHours: Full-time (37 hours per week)About the Role The Vale of Glamorgan Council is seeking a qualified and committed Social Worker to join our 14 Plus Team. This service supports young people aged 14 and over who are looked after by the Local Authority, young people who are homeless aged 16–17, all care leavers up to age 25, and all Unaccompanied Asylum Seeking Children.You will be part of a service that prioritises manageable workloads, excellent supervision, and time to engage meaningfully with young people. Our practice is strength-based, relationship-focused, and delivered in an environment where staff wellbeing and professional development are key priorities.Key Responsibilities
* Work directly with young people to promote their independence, resilience, and positive future outcomes.
* Support care leavers in transitioning into adulthood, including housing, education, employment, and wellbeing.
* Undertake assessments, develop care/pathway plans, and review progress in line with statutory requirements.
* Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners to deliver coordinated support.
* Ensure young people are actively involved in their own plans and contribute to service development.
Essential Criteria
* Recognised social work qualification (Degree, DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
* Registration with Social Care Wales.
* Experience of working with children, young people, and their families/carers in statutory settings.
* Experience of multi-agency working.
* Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Children Act and the Social Services and Well-being (Wales) Act.
