ROLE: Senior Business Development Manager
LOCATION: Stevenage

We're looking for an Senior Business Development Manager to generate new business, grow key accounts and position Mitie as the partner of choice for Energy Advisory Services and wider solutions including Energy Consulting, Energy Management Services, Demand Side Response (DSR) and Smart Grid participation.
Role Responsibilities
Business Development & Sales Delivery
1. Identify, target and secure new opportunities for Energy Advisory services including data management, procurement, invoice and risk management, research and renewables across both private and public sectors.
2. Achieve and exceed a personal sales target of £2m annualised revenue.
3. Build a strong pipeline through self‑generated opportunities, networking, and leveraging Mitie's existing client portfolio.
4. Lead the full sales cycle: prospecting, qualification, bid development, pricing, presentations, negotiation and contract close.
Client Engagement
5. Build senior‑level relationships with CFOs, COOs, Sustainability Directors and Estate Managers.
6. Understand client challenges relating to cost reduction, carbon reduction, compliance and ESG, translating these into tailored solutions.
7. Position Mitie as a long‑term strategic partner through cross‑selling Consulting and Energy Solutions services.
Internal Collaboration
8. Work closely with technical specialists, solution architects and delivery teams to scope compelling and deliverable solutions.
9. Collaborate with Heads of Department and marketing to develop campaigns, case studies and thought‑leadership content.
10. Provide accurate sales forecasts and market intelligence via Salesforce CRM.
Market & Sector Knowledge
11. Maintain strong awareness of energy market trends, government policy and funding mechanisms relevant to EPCs and sustainability.
12. Represent Mitie at industry events, conferences and roundtables.
Required Qualifications
Skills & Experience
13. Proven track record in business development with consistent achievement of £1m+ annual sales targets.
14. Strong knowledge of Energy Advisory and sustainability services.
15. Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to shape complex solutions and contracts.
16. Skilled communicator able to present to senior stakeholders and close high‑value deals.
17. Ability to influence at C‑suite level and build long‑term client relationships.
18. Strong proposal writing, bid management and negotiation skills.
19. Highly motivated, resilient and results‑driven.
Qualifications
20. Degree in Business, Engineering, Energy or a related discipline (desirable).
21. Professional memberships (Energy Institute, CIBSE, IEMA) advantageous.
22. Evidence of CPD in energy management, decarbonisation or sustainability preferred.
