Band 4 Dental Nurse – Community Dental Nursing Team
Working hours: 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday (5 days).
Location: Lyng Health Centre, Sandwell locality, with flexible working across the Community Dental Services (CDS) including Mobile Clinics and external sites, and at Birmingham Dental Hospital (BDH).
Key Responsibilities
* Provide chair side assistance to clinicians within the dental service.
* Carry out clerical and administrative duties to ensure efficient operation of the clinic/department.
* Maintain a high standard of patient care and confidentiality within all dental clinics throughout the service.
* Prepare and monitor patients for and during their dental treatment, providing pre‑ and post‑operative instructions as required.
* Undertake the general care of the surgery, including maintenance of dental equipment/instruments and arrange necessary repairs.
* Ensure medical emergency drugs and equipment are available and up to date.
* Provide chair side assistance and postoperative instructions during general anaesthetic and exodontia sessions as required.
* Provide oral health education to patients as required by the clinician.
* Assist the Senior Dental Nurse and Specialty Nurses in the smooth running of the Dental service.
* Support clinicians, including all student disciplines.
* Support and supervise apprentice nurses and undergraduate groups.
Qualifications
Band 4 level Dental Nursing experience (or equivalent).
