About The Role
Nottingham High School is seeking a skilled and enthusiastic Drama Technician to join our vibrant Drama Department. This is a dynamic and varied role, offering the opportunity to work at the heart of the school’s exciting academic and co-curricular performance programme.
You will support all technical aspects of Drama and Music productions, help facilitate lessons, and play a vital role in creating a safe and engaging environment for students to explore their creativity. From lighting and sound to set construction and costume coordination, your work will be essential in bringing our performances to life.
Key Responsibilities
* Technical & Production Support
* Provide technical support for all school productions (academic and co-curricular), including lighting, sound, and rigging
* Assist with music events and maintain music department equipment
* Construct sets and props; source or create costumes and make-up
* Support lesson delivery with resources and technical input
* Attend rehearsals (including evenings and weekends where required)
* Stay informed of developments in technical theatre and undertake training as needed
Health & Safety
* Ensure all equipment and materials are used and maintained safely
* Conduct routine inspections, risk assessments, and servicing
* Maintain tidy and safe working spaces, ensuring compliance with all Health & Safety regulations
* Brief students on safety procedures during productions and technical activities
Co-curricular & Departmental Support
* Lead the student Production Team co-curricular activity
* Prepare session plans and share with the Head of Drama for approval
* Support departmental meetings and events such as Open Evenings and exhibitions
* Manage Founder Hall’s diary of bookings, with necessary approvals
Administrative Duties
* Assist with photocopying, displays, cataloguing student work, and general admin
* Order and maintain stock and supplies in line with school procedures
* Attend a residential trip to London annually
* Undertake any other reasonable tasks as requested by the Head of Drama or Headmaster

* Works well in a team and demonstrates a genuine commitment to supporting the success and wellbeing of young people
