About the role
Our Balfour Beatty Ground Engineering business has a terrific opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to join our team working on the HS2, N1/N2 project. This role will be based in Coleshill, Birmingham
HS2, N1/ N2 project covers the northern 90km section of Phase 1 of the overall HS2 scheme to provide a new high-speed rail connection between London and the North of England.
Balfour Beattys Ground Engineering business is positioned as the UKs leading specialist geotechnical contractor, drawing on its knowledge and expertise in delivering innovative piling and ground improvement solutions across all sectors, focussing on providing the solid foundations for buildings of any height, ranging from city skyscrapers to house foundation packages.
What you'll be doing
Some key responsibilities will be:
1. Orders information and systematically checks data Cost Engineering
2. Measure, record & value work unsupervised in accordance with appropriate rules and procedures
3. Measure & interpret specifications & drawings.
4. Build up estimates from first principle including net and gross estimates.
5. Translate measurement from drawings and Specifications and prepare Bills of Quantities and Schedules of rates.
6. Review weekly, monthly, section programmes of works.
7. Plan commercial activities to meet requirements of section programmes.
8. Collation of Cost and Value Information
9. Collect information required to specify procurement requirements.
10. Undertakes customer and stakeholder management.
11. Collation of cost and value information
12. Measurement of works and agreements with subcontractors.
Who we're looking for
You will have the following:
13. Have an understanding of delay and disruption programmes.
14. Working towards professional membership from the RICS, ICES or CIOB
15. Previous Commercial Work experience
16. BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or experience equivalent.
