A specialist education recruitment agency is currently seeking a dedicated and resilient Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join a well-established SEMH school in Eccles on a full-time basis. This is a rewarding opportunity to support young people who require additional emotional and behavioural support to thrive in an educational environment.
The school provides a nurturing and structured setting for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs, many of whom may have experienced barriers to learning in mainstream education. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting both the academic and personal development of pupils.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with SEMH needs
Assist the class teacher in delivering engaging and accessible lessons
Support pupils in managing behaviour and developing positive coping strategies
Build strong, trusting relationships with students to promote engagement and confidence
Help maintain a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment
Work collaboratively with teaching staff, SENCOs and pastoral teams
The Ideal Candidate Will Have:
Experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEN, or behavioural needs
A patient, calm and resilient approach to supporting challenging behaviour
Strong communication and relationship-building skills
A genuine passion for helping young people overcome barriers to learning
A relevant qualification in education, childcare, youth work or psychology (desirable but not essential)
