What You’ll Be Doing
The Head of Programme Office leads the Programme Management Office (PMO), ensuring effective delivery, governance, and assurance of all change initiatives across the organisation. This role is responsible for establishing best practice frameworks, driving portfolio performance, and enabling successful delivery of strategic programmes and projects.
- Develop and implement the PMO strategy, aligning with organisational goals and strategic objectives & priorities.
- Act as a trusted advisor to senior Change, IT and business leadership, providing insight and challenge on programme delivery, risks, and opportunities.
- Provide portfolio, programme, and project assurance, ensuring compliance with agreed methodologies and quality standards.
- Define, implement, own and monitor best practice for the core PMO process, deliverables and tools to support the end‑to‑end Change delivery model and wider business.
- Establish, own and maintain robust governance frameworks, standards, and controls for all Change activity.
- Lead portfolio planning, prioritisation and resource allocation to maximise value and optimise delivery. Oversee the resource allocation, capacity planning, and budget management processes for the delivery teams.
- Monitor and report on portfolio performance, benefits realisation, and key risks/issues to executive stakeholders.
- Lead, coach, and mentor the PMO team and colleagues across the Change organisation.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven experience leading a PMO or programme office in a complex, change‑driven environment.
- Strong knowledge of portfolio, programme, and project management methodologies (e.g., MSP, PRINCE2, Agile).
- Demonstrable track record of delivering large‑scale transformation programmes.
- Excellent leadership, stakeholder management, and influencing skills.
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑making abilities.
- Experience with project management tools and reporting systems.
