This post is to provide a clinical service in Trauma and Orthopaedics, working closely with the Consultants, Specialist Registrars, and Foundation Doctors. The post will include a 1:10 non-resident on-call commitment with prospective cover.
The post holder will hold full GMC registration and have MBBS or equivalent GMC registration consisting of previous experience in orthopaedics.
Candidates that are non-GMC registered at the point of application will be considered for this position, under the Trusts International Fellowship Scheme (please note, there is a £500 admin charge for this scheme). The Specialty doctors are exposed to the trauma and elective management inpatient and outpatient setting. They are actively involved in the direct clinical care of patients admitted under the orthopaedic consultants for emergency and elective surgery. Attendance at clinics and operating sessions for both elective and emergency work is essential.
There is a comprehensive training programme with daily educational trauma meetings, and additional scheduled radiology and orthopaedic teaching, as well as the trust wide induction and training programs. There are annual formal appraisals. There are weekly Orthopaedic / Journal Club Meeting.
