We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Theatre Technician to join our team at Ellesmere Port, Cheshire. This is a hands- on, practical role within the heart of the surgical team, where you will play a key part in maintaining a clean, efficient, and well- organised theatre environment. As a vital member of the surgical support team, the Theatre Technician works alongside vets and veterinary nurses to ensure the highest standards of hygiene, equipment readiness, and theatre protocol compliance. This role is ideal for someone with a strong attention to detail, good time management, and a passion for supporting clinical teams in delivering excellent surgical care. Key Responsibilities • Prepare theatres for scheduled surgical procedures, ensuring all required equipment is clean, sterilised, and available • Lay out surgical kits and assist in setting up surgical areas to support efficiency and aseptic protocols • Clean, pack, and sterilise surgical instruments and consumables using autoclaves and ultrasonic cleaners • Conduct regular maintenance checks on surgical tools and ensure any faults are reported and addressed • Ensure proper storage and organisation of sterile supplies Theatre Maintenance & Infection Control • Maintain a clean and aseptic theatre environment before, during, and after surgical procedures • Follow strict infection control protocols including cleaning checklists, waste management, and barrier nursing support • Restock and rotate surgical supplies to ensure consistent availability Team Support & Coordination • Work collaboratively with veterinary surgeons, nurses, and support staff to ensure smooth surgical workflows • Respond efficiently to changing surgical schedules and urgent clinical needs • Communicate effectively with the clinical team regarding equipment availability, instrument readiness, and procedural setup Required Skills & Attributes • Experience in a veterinary or medical theatre/clinical environment (desirable) • Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and sterility • Ability to follow set procedures and maintain high standards under pressure • Effective time management and organisational skills • Confident working independently and as part of a fast-paced clinical team • Excellent communication skills for relaying information to the wider clinical team • Proactive approach to maintaining stock and equipment readiness • Enthusiasm for animal care and supporting surgical outcomes Working hours: 07:30 -15:00hrs Rota: Monday - Friday 35hr week Holiday allowance: 5.6 weeks (Including Bank holidays)
