Supported Accommodation Services in Lancashire

Barnardo's provides supported accommodation to young people aged 16-25 across a number of sites in Lancashire. The service aims to provide young people with the skills, knowledge and confidence needed for independent living. The young people who live in our accommodation are from a range of backgrounds and are often either in care, in the process of Leaving Care or have experienced homelessness. Most of the services are staffed 24 hours per day by a dedicated team. Young people can live within our accommodation for up to 2 years so that they can move on successfully to their own accommodation in a planned and coordinated way.

The service that this post links to is:

2a High Street

This service provides 7 units of short-term accommodation-based housing and support to young people aged 16-25 who are vulnerable and unable to live independently in the community, thereby enabling them to develop some of the skills required to move on successfully to more independent living or to return home to family, where this is a safe and appropriate outcome.

Moving On also manages a number of other properties where young people, aged 18-25, live with visiting support from Barnardo's staff. As part of your role, young people from these sites may contact you for assistance.

Working Hours

The successful candidate will work night, usually on a “4-on 4-off” basis, though some flexibility is required. The service operates 7 days per week and 365 days per year.

Pay & Reward Framework

We know that our colleagues go above and beyond in delivering our vital work, driven by their passion and commitment to Barnardo's . We also know that we can only realise our ambitions and achieve better outcomes for more children, thanks to the talent, hard work and creativity of our people.

For all these reasons, we are committed to a new approach to pay and reward, to ensure it is fair, attractive and progressive, which was rolled out in April 2023. This is a positive change for the charity, and a part of our Strategy. It will assist us in supporting colleagues to belong, thrive and grow in their colleague journey at Barnardo's and in time will offer clear routes of progression for colleagues in both their career and their pay.

Whilst the full pay band and salary range is advertised, our approach to starting salaries is to appoint between the minimum to mid-point of the pay band – this ensures that pay steps are available to reward our colleagues annually based on their contribution to excellence and alignment to our values and behaviours.
