Cover Teacher – Alternative Provision – South Birmingham
An alternative provision in South Birmingham is seeking a reliable and confident Cover Teacher to support teaching and learning across the school. This is a fantastic opportunity for a Cover Teacher who enjoys working with small classes, building relationships, and supporting students who have faced barriers to mainstream education.
As a Cover Teacher in this setting, you will deliver pre-planned lessons to secondary-aged students with SEMH needs and additional learning needs. Strong classroom management and the ability to engage and motivate pupils are essential, as well as a calm and consistent approach.
Job Role:
1. Delivering pre-planned lessons across a range of subjects
2. Managing small classes of students in an alternative provision setting
3. Maintaining a calm, structured and positive learning environment
4. Supporting students with SEMH needs and challenging behaviour
5. Working closely with teaching assistants and pastoral staff
6. Ensuring safeguarding and behaviour policies are followed at all times
You Will Need:
7. Experience working with secondary-aged students
8. Confidence managing behaviour in challenging environments
9. A calm, resilient and flexible approach
10. Experience in alternative provision, PRU or SEMH settings (desirable)
11. Ability to build positive relationships quickly
