Blackwell Earthmoving is seeking an experienced Planning and Project Control Manager to lead our delivery teams in the safe, productive, and profitable construction of earthworks across all of our main projects.
This is a pivotal role where you will be the day-to-day management face of Blackwell, representing our values and mission while building strong relationships with stakeholders and the wider Blackwell supply chain. You will report directly to the Assistant Project Director and Project Director, while playing a central role in establishing and driving a high-performance project team.

Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and oversee the safe delivery and construction of earthworks.
* Ensure delivery on time, within budget, and in line with KPI targets.
* Identify and implement efficiencies in delivery techniques to ensure the Price for Work Done remains below the Total of the Prices.
* Build and motivate a strong delivery team, enabling all members to fulfil their potential.
* Maintain excellent stakeholder relations and act as the primary liaison with clients and partners.
* Work closely with Blackwell’s Central Support, Commercial, and Health & Safety teams to ensure a coordinated approach across all disciplines.
* Report directly to the Assistant Project Director and Project Director, keeping the Senior Leadership Team fully informed of progress and challenges.
* Take ownership of your section, ensuring safe and efficient operations every day.
* Ensure all vehicles, plant, equipment, and tools under your control are compliant with statutory inspections and Blackwell policies.
Essential Skills & Experience:
* Proven experience in linear earthworks, ideally within a high-speed rail environment.
* In-depth knowledge of modern earthmoving methods, plant, outputs, and technologies.
* Strong understanding of earthworks specifications, materials handling, and operational constraints.
* Proficient in producing resourced programmes and budgets.
* Commercial awareness with strong organisational and document management skills, particularly with NEC contracts.
* Solid knowledge of Health, Safety, Environmental law, and employment law including Working Rule Agreement T&Cs.
* A problem-solving mindset, always seeking safer, faster, and more cost-effective solutions.
* Motivational leadership style with the ability to engage at all levels.
* Calm under pressure, adaptable to change, and decisive in challenging situations.
* Relevant CSCS card required.
