Overview
TEACHER OF SCIENCE – Full/Part time considered. Required January 2026. We require an inspirational and innovative teacher of Science to join our successful and committed department where examination results are consistently high.
While experience in teaching both Physics and Chemistry is highly advantageous we welcome applications from specialists in other areas of Science. The Science Department consists of eleven teachers, dedicated preparation rooms for each science, an observatory, an allotment and wildlife area. Uptake for Triple Science and A-level is high, as is GCSE Astronomy, which is offered as an additional GCSE.
Chelmer Valley is a popular and oversubscribed, mixed, 11-18 comprehensive with 1200 students on roll. Responsibilities
* Deliver inspirational and innovative Science lessons that engage and motivate students to learn and achieve.
* Maintain high expectations for student progress and behaviour.
* Collaborate with the Science Department to ensure continuity and high standards across all year groups.
* Engage in ongoing professional development and educational research.
* Contribute to department activities and use resources effectively, including any specialist facilities (observatory, allotment, wildlife area).
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience teaching Physics and Chemistry is highly advantageous; applications from specialists in other areas of Science are welcome.
* Strong communication skills and enthusiasm for professional development.
* A natural flair for delivering creative and vibrant lessons that enthuse students.
