The closing date is 12 May 2026

The Aseptic Unit of the Pharmacy Department provides a fully comprehensive pharmaceutical service across the James Paget Hospital Trust. We are a warm and friendly, but hard-working, efficient and multi-skilled team consisting of Pharmacists, Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants.

We primarily supply chemotherapy and monoclonal antibody treatments to our cancer patients in the Sandra Chapman Centre. Additionally, we provide other aseptically prepared products to our patients including Total Parenteral Nutrition, IV antibiotics, biological infusions and more, all prepared in our clean room. The successful applicant will also be responsible for associated tasks such as decontamination, stock control, ordering supplies, dispensing supportive medications and all other duties.

Pharmacy Assistants are vital members of the Pharmacy team who work closely with, and under the supervision of, Pharmacists and Pharmacy Technicians.

Main duties of the job

This post is an exciting opportunity for two successful applicants to join us as a Band 3 Senior Pharmacy Assistant in Aseptics. An NVQ Level 2 is preferred and full internal aseptic-specific training will be provided enabling you to achieve the necessary competencies required for the post.

You will be expected to use a number of computerised systems and therefore have appropriate computer skills. Team working is essential.

Hours are full-time, 37.5hrs per week, Monday to Friday with a requirement to work one weekend every 6 weeks, with days off in lieu, 1 late shift per week finishing at 18:30 and 1 in 4 rostered Bank Holidays annually. Additional training with our Dispensary Team will be required to fulfil this part of the role.
