Job overview

The post holder will work as a Liaison Mental Health Nurse between Birmingham & Solihull Mental Health Foundation Trust and the Acute hospital, as part of the Psychiatric Liaison Team Assessment. Responsibilities include assessment and coordination of care needs, planning and implementation of evidence-based care to service users and their carers within the acute hospital. The role involves providing professional advice and support to other agencies and members of the multidisciplinary team, delivering a proactive clinical service focusing on improving healthy wellbeing while reducing the burden on acute hospital facilities.


Main duties of the job

1. Work as a practitioner within the acute hospital while liaising with other professionals.
2. Act as a generic psychiatric Liaison Specialist Practitioner Nurse.
3. Responsible for assessments, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing care within agreed parameters.
4. Maintain effective communication pathways.
5. Promote equality, diversity, and rights in accordance with good practice and legislation.
6. Identify and contribute to training needs necessary for providing quality evidence-based care.
7. Support senior colleagues in the effective assessments and delivery of the Psychiatric Liaison clinical service.

Person specification

* 2 years experience
* Valid RMN registration
* Knowledge of mental health
* Community or inpatient experience
