Mental Health Assistant – Aspiring Psychologist (Maidenhead)
An specialist school for children with Social and Emotional Mental Health Needs based in Maidenhead is seeking a bright and enthusiastic Mental Health Assistant. The role supports the academic learning, emotional wellbeing and behaviour of students aged 8 to 18. The SEN School employs a therapeutic approach and offers a range of training to the appointed assistant. Experience in a similar role would be desirable but is not essential. Graduates in a related field such as Psychology, Counselling, or Criminology are also desirable.
Responsibilities
* Support the academic learning and emotional wellbeing of students with complex mental health needs.
* Assist teachers and staff in implementing strategies to promote positive behaviour.
* Collaborate with on‑site therapists, counsellors and psychologists.
* Shadow therapy sessions and learn from practitioners.
* Record and monitor student progress and contribute to team meetings.
Qualifications
* Graduate in Psychology, Counselling, Criminology or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
* Enthusiastic, caring, resilient and open‑mind.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a therapeutic team.
* Willingness to attend training and develop therapeutic support skills.
Job Details
* Full‑time Mon‑Fri 8.30am–3.30pm
* Salary £85–£100 per day
* Location: Maidenhead
* Start date: ASAP or September 2025
