Job overview
We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic and personable general neurology consultant with a specialist interest in cognitive disorders. With the introduction of new therapies for Alzheimer’s disease on the horizon, we are looking to further develop our cognitive disorders team.
The role will be primarily based at the Royal Sussex County Hospital, Brighton (RSCH), with additional activity carried out at either the Princess Royal Hospital, Haywards Heath, Worthing Hospital or St Richard’s Hospital, Chichester. The postholder will undertake general neurology and specialist cognitive clinics. They will be expected to contribute to the Consultant of the Week rota for support of the inpatient ward and ward referrals at RSCH, and to contribute to the out of hours on-call rota.
Main duties of the job
* General neurology and specialist cognitive outpatient clinics, including admin
* Neuroradiology meeting
* Triage / Advice and Guidance
* Supervision of junior doctors in relation to neurological care and participation in teaching and educational activity within the Trust as required
* Royal Sussex County Hospital and Princess Royal Hospital Ward Referrals
* Sussex Neurology on-call rota
* Consultant of the Week (see JD)
Person specification
Professional registration
* MRCP or its recognised equivalent.
* Full and specialist registration (with a licence to practise) with the GMC or be eligible for registration within six months of the interview.
* If you trained in the UK, you must also have a Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Neurology or be within six months of receiving it by the interview date.
* If you trained outside the UK, you must provide evidence that your qualifications are equivalent to the UK CCT. (Equivalence must be confirmed by GMC by date of AAC)

* Experience in specialist MS/neuroinflammatory clinics
* Experience in General Neurology
Knowledge
* Breadth of experience in and outside specialty

* Experience and ability to work in multi‑professional teams
