Role Overview
As a Senior Category Manager you will shape and deliver strategic procurement across the organisation, leading complex high-value categories to drive value, manage risk and deliver strong commercial outcomes supporting long-term objectives.
Responsibilities
* Develop and implement category strategies, lead major sourcing initiatives and design robust commercial and contractual arrangements.
* Engage senior stakeholders, influence requirements, challenge demand and support option appraisals (make/buy, insource/outsource, standardisation).
* Ensure compliance with preferred routes and policies; drive performance through KPI, SLA and outcome-based specifications.
* Lead and coach teams, driving high performance and developing staff.
* Maintain effective supplier and contract management across the full lifecycle.
Qualifications
* Significant procurement experience in the public sector, with deep expertise in category management, strategic sourcing and commercial strategy development.
* Proven ability to give strategic commercial advice to senior stakeholders and influence decisions.
* Strong commercial acumen, experience managing risk and delivering sustainable outcomes across complex categories.
* Leadership experience, coaching, and developing teams to high performance.
