Excellent salary and benefits
The Role
Are you ready to build a career in grain trading from the ground up? Our client — a dynamic, independent agricultural commodity business — is seeking a Junior Grain Trader to join their team. You’ll start by learning the fundamentals of grain origination, logistics, market analysis and risk management, then move into a full trading role over the next 3–5 years.
What you’ll do
1. Shadow and assist in sourcing grain from growers, co-ops and aggregators.
2. Support deal execution: contract terms, quality specs, shipment logistics, scheduling.
3. Monitor physical stock flows, warehouse/pit operations and quality assays.
4. Undertake market research: fundamentals, global supply/demand, currency and freight trends.
5. Maintain trading systems and data-feeds; produce reports for senior traders.
6. Develop relationships with suppliers, buyers, transporters and agents.
7. As you progress: take responsibility for your own deals, trading book and P&L.
8. Work collaboratively with risk, finance and operations to maintain margin discipline and compliance.
What we’re looking for
9. A strong interest in agriculture, commodities or markets (experience in grain/agricultural products is a plus, but not essential).
10. Analytical mindset; comfortable working with data, spreadsheets and systems.
11. Excellent communication skills: you’ll engage with farmers, customers, operations teams and senior management.
12. High integrity, good commercial instinct and a willingness to learn fast.
13. Ambition: this role is a launch-pad into full trading responsibility within 3–5 years.
14. Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (as required).
15. Degree-level or equivalent business/agriculture background preferred but not required.
What’s in it for you
16. A clear career path: from junior trader trainee through to full grain trader with autonomy and P&L responsibility.
17. Exposure to global markets and the full grain value-chain — not just desk-trading.
18. Mentorship from senior traders and access to strong commercial networks in agriculture and commodities.
19. Competitive salary with training, bonus potential linked to performance/transition into trading role.
20. An independent, agile business where you will make a visible impact and accelerate your career.
The ideal profile
If you’re hungry to learn fast, comfortable working in a high-stakes, fast-moving environment and keen to step into trading within a few years, this is for you. You should thrive in ambiguity, have a “hunt for opportunity” mentality and be ready to get stuck into origination, logistics and market execution.
