Obstetric Ultrasound Failsafe Administrator
The Obstetric Ultrasound Failsafe Administrator supports the antenatal and newborn screening coordinator in the collation and entry of data for antenatal and newborn screening programmes, including infectious diseases in pregnancy, Down’s syndrome screening, fetal anomaly screening, haemoglobinopathy screening, newborn infant physical examination and newborn bloodspot screening. The Failsafe Admin will identify screening coverage of the eligible population and ensure the safety of the screening programmes, working closely with the coordinator to facilitate failsafe mechanisms to prevent missed screening opportunities and maintain an audit trail for all programmes.
The Failsafe Admin will also maintain and evolve mechanisms to collect cohort data for key performance indicators and antenatal standards data, support the National Screening Committee Annual Report, and assist in the collation of information and production of public health submissions. Communication with other professionals involved in the screening process and participation in meetings, taking minutes, preparing teaching materials and disseminating performance management letters are also part of the role.
Main Responsibilities
* Provide general clerical support to specialist screening midwives and radiology staff, including making appointments, filing, telephone liaison, and referrals for maternity radiology screening.
* Input Down’s syndrome screening results into Cerner and ensure timely reporting of results to patients.
* Act as lead support for the establishment of the antenatal and newborn screening results failsafe system.
* Maintain the failsafe system and ensure that all booked women have data entry and any missing data is chased.
* Validate database with patient‑level data to ensure all women are offered antenatal screening, including Sickle Cell & Thalassaemia; fetal anomaly & infectious diseases, and newborn screening, including newborn blood spot and newborn & infant physical examination.
* Perform a daily audit of all screening data and raise issues to the appropriate screening leads when women have not been screened; issues with newborn screening should be escalated to the Newborn Screening Coordinator.
* Contribute and collate data for the annual screening report to the antenatal and newborn screening programme.
* Attend antenatal screening meetings and produce regular performance reports/minutes for the screening board.
