As an Independent Nuclear Assurance Inspector, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safety and security of our nuclear operations. Here’s what you’ll be doing:
* Conducting Inspections: Perform independent inspections and surveillance of nuclear work on-site and on-board to evaluate safety and security performance.
* Assessing Capabilities: Inspect and assess the business's ability to progress submarine builds and projects through the Hold Point Control process.
* Compliance Checks: Evaluate compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
* Effective Communication: Share your findings with stakeholders at all levels, including external regulators and senior management.
* Emergency Arrangements: Independently assess emergency arrangements and provide constructive feedback.
* Oversight and Challenge: Provide oversight to safety and security committees, ensuring processes are followed and safety is prioritized.
* Peer Review Activity: Maintain oversight of Independent Peer Review activities related to safety documentation.
* Operational Experience Feedback: Develop and deploy an effective feedback system for nuclear and radiological incidents.
Your Skills and Experience
We’re looking for candidates who bring the following:
* Strong knowledge of nuclear site licence conditions and experience working on licensed sites or in equivalent regulated industries.
* Proven experience managing work programs within the nuclear industry or similar highly regulated environments.
* Ability to engage and influence senior management and external regulators.
Desirable Qualifications
* Background in Marine Engineering or Nuclear Plant Operations, or experience with Nuclear Submarine Build & Commissioning.
* Degree or equivalent in a STEM subject.
* Experience in Audit & Regulation.

About the Independent Nuclear Assurance Team
As part of our Independent Nuclear Assurance team, you will work alongside regulatory inspectors reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager. This team acts as the internal regulator for the Submarines business, providing an evidence-based view of nuclear and radiological safety and security performance.
With a diverse range of responsibilities, you’ll have the opportunity to influence change at every level of the business, enhancing the safety of our boat delivery programs. Enjoy the variety of this role, from on-board inspections to engaging with directors on critical business requirements. Relocation support is available for eligible candidates across all Submarines roles.
