Junior Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer

As a Junior Infrastructure and Cloud Engineer you will be responsible for the delivery of day‑to‑day services within the Infrastructure team. You will jointly handle technologies such as Storage, Virtualised platforms, Security and AV services, Domain Services, Proxy, Windows and Linux systems, Containerised platforms, Monitoring services, Public Cloud services (Office 365, Hybrid Email and Azure ARM) and backup services, maintaining operational efficiency and above‑SLA performance.
Responsibilities
* Support the development or refactor of native cloud applications using IAAS, SAAS, PAAS and Kubernetes.
* Maintain service for customers, driving efficiency and meeting SLA requirements.
* Assist in service delivery under the Digital Services umbrella and ITIL standard of Service Management.
* Participate in infrastructural design and implementation for new services.
* Evaluate new and emerging technologies and recommend suitability for implementation.
* Document and maintain services in accordance with Trust systems.
* Mentor team members for personal development and knowledge transfer.
* Perform ad‑hoc duties as required by the operation of Infrastructure Services.
* Adhere to departmental and Trust policies and procedures.
Qualifications
* Education to Degree level or equivalent experience.
* VMware VC or equivalent experience.
* Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer (MCSE) – Cloud Platform and Infrastructure.
Experience
* Administration of identity services, storage, virtualised platforms, security and AV services, Domain Services, Proxy, Windows and Linux Systems.
* Experience with containerised platforms, monitoring services, public cloud services (Office 365, Hybrid Email, Azure ARM) and backup services.
* Hardware configuration for server specifications.
* Root cause analysis of complex technology issues.
* Strong command of Microsoft Office and other common desktop software.
* Designing and administering Group Policy Objects for forests.
* Storage infrastructure administration.
* Deployment and management of patch management solutions in an enterprise environment.
* Support of DevOps environments, continuous deployment methods and Kubernetes systems.
* Effective verbal communication and customer‑focused service.
* Excellent written English, good time management and initiative.
* Experience applying structured change control processes.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team to meet SLA deadlines.
* Translate technical jargon for customers.
* Willingness to work occasional extended hours to meet deadlines.
* Hands‑on ICT server administration in an enterprise environment.
* Administration of Office 365 and Hybrid Exchange environments.
* Knowledge of Office 365 and Hybrid Exchange platforms.
* Maintenance and support of Linux server infrastructure.
* Management of a complex multi‑domain Active Directory environment (≈50 k objects, 100+ sites).
* Management of DNS, DHCP, FSMO roles in an enterprise environment.
* Management of proxy services.
* SQL administration on premise and in the cloud.
* Backup technology administration.
