This is a great opportunity to join our dedicated QSSHE team at Perenco, where you will be responsible for delivering the Occupational Hygiene program.
The primary focus of this position is the anticipation, recognition, evaluation, and control of workplace health risks across Perenco UK operations in the Southern North Sea. A key part of the role involves continual improvement and standardisation of monitoring, auditing, and reporting systems. Responsibilities include ensuring compliance with relevant statutory provisions, codes of practice, good practices, and industry guidelines, as well as promoting a positive approach to workplace health risks.
This position is based in our Norwich office, working Monday to Friday, with some travel to offshore and onshore sites as required.
Key Responsibilities Include:
1. Work with medics/HSEAs and operational teams to review Health Risk Assessments, identifying hazard categories, hazards, health impacts, routes of entry, and required exposure monitoring/health surveillance programs.
2. Deliver occupational hygiene plans related to exposures and health risks from chemical, physical, biological, psychosocial, and ergonomic factors, including but not limited to:
* Hazardous Substance Management and COSHH risk assessments
* Chemical workplace exposure monitoring (e.g., benzene, toluene, xylene, mercury, lead, chromium, solvents, cement-based products, welding fumes, toxic gases)
* Asbestos Management and surveys, including material and risk assessment scores
* Noise and vibration management, including surveys and exposure assessments
* Radiation management and assessments
* Thermal hazard assessments
* Potable water management
* Communicable diseases, mould & spores, animal and insect hazards, DSE, fatigue
• Recommend and design control strategies.
• Monitor and evaluate control measures such as LEV, PPE, RPE testing and inspections.
• Deliver occupational hygiene training, including asbestos awareness, dust procedures, PPE/RPE use and maintenance.
• Ensure audits and inspections cover all operational sites, including support centers and NUIs, ensuring compliance with occupational health and hygiene standards.
• Maintain calibration systems for occupational hygiene equipment.
Key Requirements Include:
* Occupational Hygienist working towards or holding a BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene, via:
* A BOHS-accredited degree, or
* A combination of BOHS W & P modules.
* At least 2 years’ experience in occupational hygiene, including measurement techniques.
* Drive and passion to promote occupational hygiene and workplace health risks.
* Excellent communication skills for presentations and reporting.
* Ability to meet deadlines and produce high-quality work.
