GSL Education are currently looking for a Learning Support Assistant to join a supportive and inclusive school in Retford. This opportunity is ideal for those who are enthusiastic about making a real difference in students’ academic and personal development.
About the School: This is a welcoming and well-resourced specialist setting for secondary-aged pupils who follow a primary-style curriculum. The school supports students with a range of needs including Autism, ADHD, behavioural challenges, and learning difficulties. Class sizes are small, typically around 12 to 13 pupils, allowing for more tailored and supportive teaching.
It’s a bit like teaching primary children in secondary-sized bodies—full of energy, personality and potential.
Key Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant (LSA):
* Offer 1:1 and small group support to students who require additional assistance.
* Support the teaching team by reinforcing lesson content and adapting materials where needed.
* Help maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment.
* Monitor student progress and share insights with teachers and SEN staff.
* Promote students’ confidence, independence, and engagement in learning.
* Assist with the implementation of individual support strategies and classroom routines.
* Experience supporting young people in an educational or care setting is desirable.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A patient, compassionate, and proactive approach.
* Commitment to safeguarding and supporting the needs of all students.
* Have an up-to-date CV (covering the last ten years, barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one)
