You will oversee the development and implementation of a comprehensive data strategy, including data governance, data management, data quality, and data analytics. Your goal is to ensure high-quality data outcomes, turning data into insights and actions, maximizing information value, and treating data as an asset.
What you’ll do
As Head of Data Strategy, you will define and implement our Data Strategy, covering all aspects of data governance, data management, data quality, master data management, and reporting/analytics/insights. This role is a subset of our broader Technology Strategy.
You will:
1. Own, define, and develop the Data Strategy in collaboration with the Technology Office and other teams, aligning it with current and future organizational needs. Develop a 3-year roadmap and enterprise architecture, including a vision for data management, governance, analytics, and decision-making. Identify new services and manage existing ones in the service catalogue.
2. Work closely with the Technology Office to ensure Portfolio Management outcomes are achieved. Drive new data-related initiatives aligned with strategic principles, managing these initiatives within the broader portfolio.
3. Establish data standards, policies, and procedures to ensure compliance and data security.
4. Define and secure agreement on investments, initiatives, and improvements, ensuring delivery within scope, budget, and timeline, and achieving expected benefits. This includes planning, design, build, testing, and deployment strategies, including agile methodologies and technology selection to support data governance.
5. Sponsor and oversee the execution of investments and initiatives, ensuring they meet quality and outcome expectations.
6. Deliver a cohesive Group Data Model to ensure consistent master, reference, and metadata across processes and systems.
7. Collaborate with market analysts, vendors, and partners to identify technological opportunities, providing thought leadership on Data Strategy and related topics.
What you’ll need
Essential:
* Understanding of GIS operating models
* Familiarity with frameworks like ITIL, SAFe, DevSecOps
* Over 3 years’ experience in strategy definition roles
* Knowledge of data management concepts, including data modeling, architecture, and integration
* Experience with data warehouses, lakes, and data science tools
* Skills in SQL, C#, Python, and AI are highly desirable
* Strong grasp of data delivery, quality, security practices
Leadership responsibilities include managing team capabilities, building relationships with stakeholders, coaching staff, and ensuring high standards of ethics, compliance, and customer service. The role requires effective communication, priority setting, process management, resilience, and problem-solving skills.
