Role summary/purpose of job
The Product Owner will develop a vision and roadmap for all products within their business area based on input from internal stakeholders, customers (where applicable), market research, analytics and their own insight and experience.
They are responsible for the planning, delivery and ongoing iteration of the products and ‘lead’ the virtual Product, Architecture, Development, Marketing / Comms and Support teams to ensure products meet this vision, the market needs and are delivered to a consistently high-quality the focuses on the user experience and the firm realising the full value of its investments.
Function Overview
The Product function within Freshfields looks to leverage the opportunities that come from the applications we have deployed across the enterprise. The Product Owner will work closely with the defined business functions to determine the overall vision for the products, creating and managing a backlog of improvements and working for the delivery teams on larger scale changes. The role will also be responsible for the optimisation adoption of the products across the firm.
Working closely with the architecture, development, delivery and support teams, this function is the bridge between the business and technology; helping to prioritise, developing forums to share ideas and working out what the right products are through insight, analysis and communication / training materials.
Key responsibilities and deliverables
1. Translate business strategy into a product strategy and roadmap
2. Collect, manage and maintain all requirements and feedback from internal and external stakeholders
3. Develop key relationships with business stakeholders and create forums for regular feedback, idea generation and support
4. Produce product and market requirements
5. Manage all products from ideation, through to delivery and ongoing iteration
6. Be the recognised expert in the business on the products, markets, relevant technologies and the competition
7. Represent the voice of the customer in senior level management meetings
8. Lead the virtual product teams to deliver the agreed features and objectives
9. Develop core positioning and messaging for each product
10. Promote the product to internal teams through training sessions, webinars, newsletters etc
11. Monitor, report and improve product performance monthly
12. Ensure your products are of a consistently high quality
13. Maintain and manage lists of open issues
14. Monitor support calls
15. Maintain a listing of open requests for enhancements to be triaged and considered with IT management
16. Expectation management
17. Develop Key Performance Indicators capable of quantifying contribution/correlation between product use and client satisfaction and matter profitability.
18. Master agile methodology of product/feature lifecycle.
19. Support the business with vendor management and engagement.
Key requirements
Essential
20. Experience of Agile and waterfall delivery
21. Experience managing a complex and multi-product / market portfolio
22. Prioritised and owned a product roadmap and delivery pipeline
23. Comfortable writing and owning high-level business and technical requirements
24. Conducted market, customer and competitive research
25. Detailed performance analysis and reporting via tools such as Google Analytics, Hotjar, Microsoft etc
26. A passion for and knowledge of UI / UX best practices
27. Highly skilled at influencing and communicating with senior business stakeholders
28. Gathering of business requirements in a non-product aligned organisation
29. Able to translate business strategy into product strategy
30. Creating, tracking and meeting product KPIs
31. Comfortable building relationships in a non-hierarchical, matrix organisation
32. Able to quickly and effectively to make decisions and delegate work and responsibility
33. Strategic management of product roadmaps, feature backlogs

Marketing & Business Development
38. Bridge between marketing, business development and IT to deliver impactful MarTech solutions
39. Collaborate with cross-functional teams (marketing managers, designers, developers, data analysts, support).
40. Proficient in marketing principles and MarTech solutions like Salesforces, Pardot, Optimizely et al
41. Gather feedback from stakeholders to enhance and improve adoption
42. Support Marketing & BD teams in evaluating new tech and software as well as horizon scanning.
Desirable
43. Produced business cases to raise significant internal investment over £1m+
44. Produced customer and product segmentation, positioning and proposition plans
45. Produce wireframes / concepts using tools such as Sketch, Photoshop, Figma, Axure etc
46. Outbound product marketing support activities including launching, product promotion, producing sales and marketing content and sales support / collateral
47. Experience working in a Microsoft Azure / .NET development environment
48. Experience using Agile software development frameworks
