Job Description
Role: Structural Engineer
Location: Ipswich
Salary: £31,000 to £43,000
Our client is in need of an experienced Structural Engineer who is competent in the design of all the regularly used construction materials and building forms. The practice has a wide and varied workload, requiring candidates to possess the following necessary qualities:
1. The ability to use ingenuity and creativity to resolve complex engineering and wider problems
2. A good grasp of the behaviour of structures
3. BSc/BEng/MSc/MEng in civil and/or structural engineering
4. Minimum four years as a design engineer
Desirable qualities for candidates include:
1. Chartered structural engineer or near chartered
2. Ability to carry out surveys and produce reports
3. Working knowledge of structural timber
4. Ability to deal with new enquiries and provide proposals for quotation purposes
5. Proficiency in AutoCAD and ability to produce drawings and sketches by hand
6. Interest and desire to work with historic buildings
7. Understanding and interest in projects aimed at ecological sustainability and energy efficiency
The company is a busy practice with a solid workload, requiring continuity in staff. The projects are wide and varied, offering diverse experiences without repetitive work. The position is based at their Ipswich office, with work mainly in the local area and throughout the South East.
