About the role
1. Lead the mechanical engineering operation: Manage bus servicing, breakdowns, inspections, diagnose faults, specify repair methods, and estimate repair times.
2. Flexibility: Work hours may vary to meet operational needs and stay updated with new engineering and safety legislation.
3. Maintenance of bus history: Keep up-to-date with individual bus histories, focusing on recurring defects prior to inspections.
4. Modern repair techniques: Be familiar with electronic and mechanical diagnostic equipment (e.g., brake rolling road tester, smoke meter, headlight alignment tester, engine oil sampling, diagnostic laptops).
5. Computerised systems: Know how to operate and extract data from computerised engineering systems.
We will provide all necessary tools and equipment, including overalls.
Hourly rate: Up to £22.00 per hour
About you
1. Possess a minimum Level 3 NVQ or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds Level 1 & 2).
2. Capability to multi-skill within an engineering environment.
3. Flexible approach to working hours.
4. PCV licence is desirable; ability to obtain one is essential, and we will assist in this process.
5. Experience working with buses, coaches, or HGV vehicles.
We are seeking mechanics experienced in overhaul and repair of bus systems, engines, gearboxes, and hydraulic systems. Experience with workshop equipment such as brake testers, tracking gauges, hydraulic lifts, and testing equipment is also advantageous.
