Engagement Practitioner ORGANISATION AND BACKGROUND The Director People & Training (Dir P&T) is responsible for attracting, training, sustaining and retaining inspired, capable and motivated people in an agile and flexible Whole Force to enable the Royal Navy to succeed on operations by putting our people capability first. Additionally, as the Naval Secretary they are responsible for advising the First Sea Lord & Chief of Naval Staff on all matters relating to Flag and General Officers’ appointing. They are supported in the fulfilment of these specific NAVSEC duties by the Naval Assistant. Dir P&T is additionally responsible for all activities undertaken at Britannia Royal Naval College (BRNC), Command Training Centre Royal Marines (CTCRM), HMS RALEIGH, HMS COLLINGWOOD, the Institute of Naval Medicine, HMS TEMERIARE, and the Training Management Group (TMG) where the majority of individual Naval training is conducted including Phases 1, 2 and 3, as well as hosting a number of lodger Units at these sites. Dir P&T is also the Operating Duty Holder (ODH) for all Royal Marines Training undertaken at CTCRM and all Diving Training undertaken at the Defence Diving School at Horsea Island. They are supported in this Role by the Delivery Duty Holders for each of these activities, and by SO1 Ops, the Directorate Environmental & Safety Officer, and Senior Operators for each activity. The P&T Engagement Team aims to ensure that all P&T communications are filtered and delivered through RN Comms in a coherent manner. They work to ensure that the P&T priorities are communicated and met and that all changes are communicated and understood across the RN so that we truly can Place our People Capability First. The Engagement team lead on Command events, and deliver people messages to the front line and where possible receive feedback, with an aim to improve engagement and the experience of people in the Navy. The team works closely with the People Insights, Intelligence and Analytics Cell (PIIAC) to contribute feedback from engagement into insights produced by the PIIAC team. JOB PURPOSE The Engagement Practitioner supports the P&T directorate by cohering communication and engagement activity. They are responsible for messaging all P&T initiatives and changes. The team ensures a consistency of messaging – via digital and other means to reach target audiences. This position works as part of the team drafting and developing communication plans for P&T, filtering these into RN Comms via the Engagement Planner and working towards cohering and delivering the agreed messages. The Engagement Practitioner will need good interpersonal skills and the ability to build strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the Directorate and the wider Navy. They will need good written, verbal and organisational skills. The Royal Navy has adopted Agile methodology which means that everyone in the P&T Engagement Team contributes to Agile Sprints as and when required. RESPONSIBILITIES Responsibilities 1. Build strong relationships within the P&T Directorate. Support and advise on communications and engagement activities. (45%) 2. Create Communication plans to support P&T outputs and priorities: cohere all activity and filter as required with Graphics/ RN Comms/Digital/ Subject Matter Experts. (45%) 3. The Engagement Team uses Agile Scrum methodology to move through sprints, the team are to support the Scrum Master on delivering of the sprints as required.
