Description Public Spaces Operations Manager Salary: £53,868 – £57,070 per annum (Grade 11). Gosport Borough Council is seeking an experienced Public Spaces Operations Manager to lead the day-to-day delivery and strategic development of our parks, play areas, sports facilities, nature sites, allotments, cemeteries, and more. About the Role Reporting to the Head of Public Spaces, you’ll manage a diverse team to ensure high-quality, customer-focused services across a range of outdoor spaces. You’ll be a key player in shaping the future of Gosport’s green and public spaces—ensuring they’re well-maintained, inclusive, sustainable, and responsive to community needs. You’ll oversee operations, manage budgets, ensure legal compliance, develop long-term strategies, and promote community partnerships. The role also involves supporting corporate initiatives and deputising for the Head of Public Spaces when required. The role will be considered for hybrid working, with a combination of remote/home working and office attendance. What We’re Looking For We're looking for a dynamic and strategic leader with: Significant experience managing grounds maintenance or horticultural services, ideally in a local government setting. Knowledge of nature conservation, heritage sites, and public open space management. Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate teams and work collaboratively with stakeholders. A customer-focused, solution-oriented mind-set and the ability to manage complex operations calmly and effectively. Experience handling budgets, procurement, and performance monitoring.
