About us
Hardwick Green Academy is a welcoming primary school in Stockton-on-Tees, serving a diverse community. We pride ourselves on creating a calm, supportive environment where every child can flourish. Our school values RESPECT – Resilience, Empathy, Self-awareness, Positivity, Excellence, Communication, and Teamwork – and we expect all staff to model these every day.

About the role
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our enhanced mainstream KS2 provision, supporting pupils with complex needs, including those with Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs). The prime areas of need within the class are Communication & Interaction (C&I) and Cognition & Learning (C&L), and the successful candidate will play a key role in helping pupils access learning, develop independence, and thrive socially and emotionally.

Working closely with the class teacher and wider SEND team, you will provide personalised support in lessons, deliver targeted interventions, and help create a positive, structured, and inclusive learning environment. You will contribute to planning and adapting activities, implement strategies to support communication and emotional regulation, and promote the wellbeing, engagement, and progress of each pupil.

This is a rewarding role for someone who is patient, proactive, and passionate about making a meaningful difference in the lives of children with diverse and complex needs.

What we are looking for

1. Patient, empathetic and resilient, with a passion for supporting pupils with C&I and C&L needs.
2. Able to build positive, trusting relationships and use consistent, supportive communication strategies.
3. Adaptable and proactive, confident in adjusting activities and approaches to meet individual needs.
4. A strong team player, able to collaborate effectively with teachers, therapists, and the wider SEND team.
5. Calm, organised and willing to learn, committed to developing their skills in SEND practice and pupil support.

What we can offer
6. Membership of the Local Government Pension Scheme
7. Opportunities for development and progression
8. Employee Assistance Programme provided by Health Assured
9. Cycle to Work Scheme
10. Octopus EV Scheme
11. Lifestyle savings
