Lecturer in Computing – Birmingham

The role
We are currently seeking lecturers to teach across a range of undergraduate levels as part of our BSc (Hons) Computing programme. Because of our delivery model, you should be able to teach during weekdays, evenings and weekends.
Visa: This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
What you will be doing
As a Lecturer in Computing at Global Banking School, you will deliver modules based around the three main themes of the programme: Technology, Software and Data. You will develop and deliver comprehensive course materials and undertake all aspects of learning, teaching and assessment of students.
Responsibilities
* Plan, deliver and assess student work, ensuring learning outcomes are met.
* Develop, update and improve course materials as appropriate.
* Use a variety of learning and teaching methods/materials.
* Actively engage in staff development activities, peer observations, meetings and other administrative duties.
* Keep up to date with latest developments in your field and student support practices.
* Work towards defined objectives for student attendance, continuation, completion, satisfaction and progression.
About you
* Hold a Master’s degree in a relevant subject area (PhD desirable).
* Have previous UK HE lecturing experience in the wider subject area.
* Demonstrate extensive knowledge of two or more of the following areas: programming and software development, web development, database systems, cloud computing, networking, cybersecurity, IoT, emerging technologies, business IT systems, IT management, AI and machine learning, operating systems, UI/UX.
* Have experience supervising student work and providing support and feedback.
* Have experience in accurate reporting and maintaining thorough student records.
* Work under pressure, plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines.
* Have excellent communication, interpersonal and team‑working skills.
* Work with diverse groups of people.
Desirable
* Hold a Postgraduate Certificate of Academic Practice or equivalent teaching qualification (or commitment to enrol on a teaching programme during the probationary period and complete within three years) or Fellowship of HEA (or international equivalent).
* Have experience designing/developing academic or professional education programmes.
