Job Responsibilities
Dispensing & Operational Oversight
* Accurately dispense prescriptions in line with legal and clinical requirements
* Oversee workflow within the dispensary, ensuring efficiency and timely processing
* Support digital dispensing systems and distance selling workflows
Leadership & Team Management
* Supervise and support dispensary staff, including training and performance oversight
* Act as a point of escalation for dispensing queries and operational issues
* Contribute to staff rota planning and workload allocation
Compliance & Governance
* Ensure adherence to GPhC standards, SOPs, and NHS contractual requirements
* Maintain robust audit trails and support internal/external inspections
* Lead on error reporting, incident learning, and continuous improvement
Patient Safety & Service Quality
* Promote a culture of patient safety and high-quality care
* Support handling of patient queries remotely (telephone/email)
* Ensure confidentiality and GDPR compliance at all times
Person Specification
Essential Skills & Attributes
* Strong organisational and prioritisation skills
* Excellent communication (particularly in remote/patient‑facing environments)
* Ability to work in a fast‑paced, high‑volume setting
* Proactive approach to problem‑solving and continuous improvement
Essential Experience
* NVQ Level 2/3 in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent qualification)
* Significant experience working in a UK community or distance selling pharmacy
* Strong understanding of dispensing processes and pharmacy law
* Experience supervising or mentoring staff
* High attention to detail and commitment to patient safety
Desirable Experience
* Experience working within a distance selling pharmacy model
* Knowledge of electronic prescribing systems (EPS)
* Previous involvement in audits, SOP development, or inspections
* Leadership or team management training
