A client within the Public Sector based in Greater Manchester is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor to join their Direct Works – Responsive and Planned Repairs and Voids team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a Housing Services environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is tocarry out technical surveying and inspections relating to responsive and planned repairs, disrepair, voids, damp, refurbishment and capital investment across council homes and public buildings, ensuring properties are maintained in a reasonable state of repair and in compliance with relevant housing standards.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Undertaking pre-, during-, and post-inspections and quality control checks on repairs and refurbishment works.
• Preparing technical specifications for remedial works on domestic and public buildings.
• Conducting building surveys in line with Decent Homes and HHSRS standards.
• Overseeing projects and ensuring compliance with CDM regulations and health & safety standards.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A RICS-accredited degree or equivalent.
• Significant experience in surveying domestic properties and public buildings.
• Strong contractor and project management knowledge.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Experience preparing and managing project budgets.
• Good understanding of building defects and maintenance processes.
• Excellent communication and IT skills.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £30 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £25 per hour PAYE).
