About The Role
An exciting opportunity has become available for a Junior Heritage Consultant to join the York Archaeology team in Nottingham (formerly Trent and Peak Archaeology).
York Archaeology is the trading name for the delivery of commercial archaeological services for York Archaeological Trust (YAT). The Trust combines world famous heritage attractions, with excavation, survey, consultancy, expert conservation services, research and an unmatched commitment to dissemination, engagement and public benefit.
We are building on the vision that led from the Coppergate excavation to the JORVIK Viking Centre, DIG, and the annual Viking Festival, with a pioneering spirit of innovation to deliver benefits from archaeology and cultural heritage.
To help in our mission we are looking for a Junior Heritage Consultant with the character and skills to assist in the delivery of commercial contracts cost-effectively and to the satisfaction of clients. We are looking for someone who also has the ambition and drive to use this platform of discovery to help build the connections to secure positive social impacts through our shared heritage.
If you feel you have demonstrable relevant experience and skills, or indeed untapped potential and are ready for a change, get in touch and explore the possibilities.
You
We are seeking a highly motivated, diligent, early-career heritage consultant, ideally with 6+ months experience in a similar role, to join our Heritage Consultancy and Historic Buildings team. As a Junior Heritage Consultant, you will work closely with our Heritage Consultancy Manager to assist with project costings, and the set-up and delivery of a range of heritage and planning reports including desk-based assessments, historic building assessments, environmental statement chapters, setting assessments and archaeological management plans. You will possess excellent report-writing and research skills, and the ability to carry out desk-based and archival research, and site walkover surveys largely independently with support from our Heritage Consultancy Manager when required. A working knowledge of historic building assessment and survey will be highly beneficial, as would a basic working knowledge of GIS packages for the production of report illustrations. Full training in GIS packages can however be provided for the right candidate.
As a CIfA Registered Organisation (RO), CIfA membership is encouraged amongst staff and would be advantageous to applicants.
