Overview
We are looking for enthusiastic, proactive individuals who can communicate effectively and work accurately and efficiently to a high standard. You will be based within the main dispensary at Whiston Hospital with rotation to the out-patient centre at St Helens Hospital, assisting in the provision of a safe and effective dispensing service.
Responsibilities
* Routine labelling and dispensing of prescriptions for both inpatients and outpatients, including Controlled Drugs.
* Preparation of extemporaneous medicines and involvement in the effective management of returned medicines from within the Trust.
* Rotate to work with ward-based Pharmacy Technicians to provide a ward-based dispensing service.
* Participate in weekend and evening rotas to provide a seven-day-a-week service to the Trust.
* Work as part of the pharmacy team to deliver an efficient and comprehensive pharmaceutical service within the pharmacy departments of Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust, under the direction of the Chief Pharmacist.
Qualifications and experience
* Current experience of working within a pharmacy setting (e.g., hospital, community, prison service) is essential.
* NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services and a recognised dispensing qualification are required.
* A good standard of education (to GCSE level) would be advantageous.

* Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check may be required; applicants may be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs may be deducted from salary following appointment. If applicable, you may be encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service (small annual fee).
